This project was one of my favorites so far. Having a client based in Ukraine was pretty scary for me when Russian forces stormed across the border. I had never feared for the life of a client before! MobiDev approached me with this guest post topic for HackerNoon and I was thrilled to get started. I sat down with AI expert Evgeniy Krasnokutsky to hear his perspective on how artificial intelligence and other technologies were being used in the war in Ukraine.
I found this project fascinating because it joined together a number of different interests of mine, while also giving me a chance to raise awareness for not only my client’s business, but the livelihood of all Ukrainians at risk in the war. It was inspiring to me that instead of simply giving up and running away, Ukraine’s civilian IT sector was finding ways to fight back and look out for eachother, such as through the Diia app to report Russian troop movements and to protect the data of citizens.
I’m especially curious about what role artificial intelligence will play in analyzing evidence of war crimes committed by Russian forces during the war. I hope that someday justice will prevail for families in Ukraine once the conflict comes to an end.
